The Columbia County Health Department will hold a back-to-school immunization walk-in clinic from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each weekday through Monday at all three health department clinics. School supplies
- Grovetown Masonic Lodge 730 is holding a school supply drive, with a collection box at Grovetown City Hall.
- United We Care, in Grovetown, will give out school supplies from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. For information, call (706) 854-8852.
Lake ministry
St. John United Methodist Church's summer lake ministry is held each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. through Aug. 30 at the church's Thurmond Lake site near Modoc, S.C., with nondenominational services led by area ministers and lay leaders. Visitors may drive to the church's camp off Furys Ferry Road or come by boat.
Gardening at Lunch series
The Columbia County Extension Service Gardening at Lunch series continues at noon today with a program on drought and deer-tolerant plants. Future programs include composting, Sept. 2. For information, call (706) 868-3413.
Diabetes forum
Betty English, University of Georgia Extension Service family and consumer science agent, will hold a discussion on Living with Diabetes at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Enon Baptist Church, 4678 Washington Road, Evans. Call (706) 860-8565.
Backpack blessing
Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Furys Ferry Road, Martinez, will hold the annual Blessing of the Backpacks in the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. Participants are asked to bring school supplies for donation to needy students. Call (706) 210-1133.
