Baseball barbecue

The Dixie Youth All-Stars, Team Georgia, will hold a barbecue lunch fundraiser on Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church on North Belair Road from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with barbecue plates available for $7. Deliveries are available for 10 plates or more. Money raised will go towards travel expenses for the team, which will play in Texarkana, Ark., in the World Series Aug. 1-6. Call (706) 220-0138.
Boating course
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary and Army Corps of Engineers will offer a boating safety course Saturday at Thurmond Dam Visitors Center. The class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by 4 p.m. Cost is $35 for an individual or $50 for a family. Volleyball tryouts

Grovetown High football combine
The Southeastern Coaches Combine will be held July 27 at Grovetown High School. Players in grades eight through 12 zoned for Grovetown High School are welcome to attend.
