MoStock will send teens off to school

Area churches will send teenagers off to college with a Christian rock and worship festival Saturday in Evans.

The second annual MoStock will be held at Mosaic United Methodist Church, 478 Columbia Industrial Blvd., starting at 1 p.m.

"Youth will be playing music and leading the worship," said Mosaic youth pastor Navin Jeremiadoss. "Different churches' praise bands will be coming to perform."

Confirmed acts include the Mosaic praise band, the Crossbridge Baptist Church praise band, and Christian rap group Lively Stone. Jeremiadoss said last week that he hopes to enlist other performers for the festival, which is meant to encourage teens to maintain their Christian principles as they head off to college.

"This is for all the high school kids who are leaving youth and going on to college," Jeremiadoss said. "This is to celebrate with them and to say, 'Hey guys, you're doing a good job. Keep doing what God has called you to do.' "

Though MoStock is designed for incoming college freshmen, Jeremiadoss said everyone is welcome.

There is no admission charge, and food vendors will be on site at the outdoor festival.
