As the dog days of summer arrive, the CSRA Beagle Club will hold their 10th annual Barbecue and Trade Day on Saturday.

"We try to have something for everybody," said club president Chuck Terry.

The event, which takes place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Winfield Community Center on Georgia Highway 150, will feature numerous activities for children and adults.

On-site activities will include canine demonstrations, BB gun and archery shooting contests and a reptile exhibit.

Also, a beagle-coloring contest, inflatable Moonwalk and pony rides will be available for children.

Those planning to attend the event can find beagle- and rabbit-related products to sell, trade and showcase.

Barbecue chicken plates costing $7 will be available for purchase. Guests also can try rabbit stew.

"That's mainly the only item that we sell," Terry said. "Most everything else, we do just as a courtesy to the people that participate and come to our Barbecue and Trade Day.

"Some people bring things to buy, sell and trade, but a lot of times, that's pretty limited."

Terry said that beagles and rabbits likely will be for sale. There also will be door prizes.

While children tend to love the activities, many from the beagle club like to swap stories, Terry said. Others like to check out the dogs.

"Some people are just beagle lovers," he said. "Everybody has sort of a different take on it."

Terry said past events have drawn an average crowd size of about 400 people.

"It's open to anyone," he said. "We don't have any requirements for attendance. There's no entry charge."
