Boating course

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary and Army Corps of Engineers will offer a boating safety course Saturday at Thurmond Dam Visitors Center. The class will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by 4 p.m. Cost is $35 for an individual or $50 for a family and includes a textbook. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. Travel baseball

Youth soccer

Softball tryout

Greenbrier High School will hold a softball tryout at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Greenbrier softball field. All participants must bring a copy of their physical and proof of insurance. For information, call (706) 650-6040, ext. 4150.

Volleyball tryouts

Greenbrier High School will hold volleyball tryouts at its gym Aug. 3, from 9:30 a.m.-noon, and Aug. 4-5, from 2:45-5 p.m. Participants must attend all three dates, bring a copy of their physical and show proof of insurance. For information, call (706) 650-6040, ext. 4152.

Harlem seeks players

Students zoned to attend Harlem High School in the fall who want to play football are asked to call coach Jimmie Lewis at (706) 564-4712 for summer workout information.

Football combine

The Southeastern Coaches Combine will be held July 27 at Grovetown High School. Players in grades 8-12 zoned for Grovetown High School are welcome to attend. Coast Guard Auxiliary
