Citizens should view nation's founding documents for 'relevance'

Our nation was founded on three pieces of paper: The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. There are those who say these documents are no longer relevant.

What could these papers contain that would cause our nation to come from a wilderness with 13 colonies, have the same government, cause people to come here from all other nations, become this great nation of prosperity and power, and still be a young nation at only 233 years old?

Perhaps we should re-read these papers and decide for ourselves if "we, the people" consider them relevant.

The author of one of these papers, Thomas Jefferson, is quoted as saying, "When man assumes public trust he should consider himself a 'public property.'" Perhaps we should decide if this is still relevant as well.
