Starting Monday, Grovetown residents will have to abide by citywide water restrictions because of a low water supply.
The state Environmental Protection Division recently reverted to a nondrought outdoor watering schedule for the first time since 2006. Utility officials eased water restrictions June 10, allowing residents to water any time of the day on certain days, based on their addresses.
Public Works Director Mike Woods said the city is experiencing a low supply of water since the restrictions were eased.
"They lifted the ban, and everybody is watering whenever they want," Woods said. "Until we get those new water lines and new tank, we're going to have to tighten everybody up."
City officials already have approved new water lines and a water tank to increase supply.
Grovetown residents are allowed to water according to the previous Level II schedule.
Residents with even-numbered address will be allowed to water outdoors from midnight until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only. Those with odd-numbered address can water between midnight and 10 a.m. Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. No outdoor watering is allowed Mondays.
Woods said enforcement of the restrictions will start Monday.
