Just when I thought I had heard it all, I ... learned that Heartsong Animal Rescue and Clinic had lost their very valuable animal crates to thieves. I say "very valuable" because these crates are the "doctor's stethoscope," the "surgeon's scalpel" and the " carpenter's hammer." These crates are the very tools that make the business of saving stray and homeless animals possible. They are used all day long, every day.
The Emmons have made this their life mission (at Heartsong), and the loss of these crates has seriously crippled this mission. One must know Loretta Emmons to know how very dedicated she is that she will stand at PetSmart for hours on weekends just in hopes of finding just the perfect match for just the perfect stray dog or cat, after working a full week at her clinic.
One has to wonder what kind of person would want to interrupt the work of this loving and caring protector of needy dogs and cats. The lack of crates determines how many animals they are able to receive, and until they once again have the necessary number, they are forced to accept fewer animals.
... Budgets are very, very tight for rescue groups, so it is my hope that a few of you will come forward and call Loretta at Heartsong Animal Clinic and offer her some aid in replacing these crates.
I called there recently and I learned that a very kind person saw the need and donated a small crate. The person who answered the phone said they were now in desperate need of large crates. Perhaps some of you will also feel the need to help.
I did. I just presented Heartsong with a gift certificate from a local pet store. Anything you can do adds up to helping out a great cause. Perhaps I just put a little bug in your ear.
