Harlem officials decided Monday to put a three-way stop on East Trippe Street, a popular commuter cut-through.

The city council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would make the western intersection of East Trippe Street and Ballard Drive, closest to North Louisville Street, a three-way stop.
"It is to slow down traffic, people taking that detour to Harlem-Grovetown Road in the mornings," City Manager Jean Dove said. "There is a lot of people out walking early in the morning, and these cars are speeding through there."
A second reading and final vote on the ordinance will be held at the June 15 meeting.
