Columbia County's ninth annual Red, White and Blue Veterans Celebration will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in front of the Justice Center in Evans. It includes performances by the Augusta Children's Chorale and the U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, remarks from U.S. Rep. Paul Broun and Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Foley, and a fireworks show at dusk. Rabies clinics
- Heartsong Spay Neuter Clinic will hold a $5 rabies clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, with other vaccines available.
- Columbia County Humane Society, 6100 Columbia Road, will hold a rabies clinic from 1-2:30 p.m. May 30, with free vaccines to the first 200 pets. Call (706) 541-2911.
Youth volunteers
Columbia County Foundation for Children is sponsoring a summer volunteer/community service program for high school students. Scholarship essay

Christian dances

Youth board
The Watson-Brown Foundation is seeking applications from students for 2009-10 for its Junior Board program. Applicants must be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade next year, have transportation to Thomson, and be able to meet with the board at least once a month from October to May. Parkinson seminar
