Softball tournament

The USSSA Southeast Military Softball Program will hold the regional championship June 20-21 at Sweetwater in Thomson. The tournament features men's Varsity A, B, Intramural, and Women's Varsity Softball. Entry fee is $245, includes a three-game guarantee, balls are provided, and a paid berth to the world qualifier. Team registration is open through June 18. All military, retiree, Department of Defense, dependents and military contractors are eligible to participate. Harlem High seeks football players

Students zoned to attend Harlem High School in the fall who want to play football are asked to call coach Jimmie Lewis at (706) 564-4712 for summer workout information.

Canoe cruise

Mistletoe State Park will hold a two-hour guided night canoe cruise starting at 7:30 p.m. June 5. The cruise is limited to six canoes, with three people per canoe. Cost is $30 per person plus a $3 parking fee. Canoes, paddles and other equipment is provided. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Mistletoe State Park. For information, call (706) 541-0321.

Golf tournaments

Columbia County Exchange Club Golf Day, benefiting, children with retinoblastoma (eye cancer), will be held Monday at Goshen Plantation Golf Club. Cost is $75 per player, $300 per team, $100 to sponsor a hole and $20 per mulligan. There is also a $500 Gold sponsor option and donations will be accepted. The inaugural Grovetown High School Warrior Golf Classic will be held June 20 at Bartram Trail Golf Course. Shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team, with proceeds benefitting the Grovetown High School Athletic Booster Foundation. The Augusta Junior Golf Magazine Tour will hold several junior golf tournaments throughout the summer, starting Thursday. Boys ages 8 and under and 9-10 will play nine holes and ages 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 will play 18 holes. Girls ages 8 and under and 9-11 will play nine holes. The Augusta Choral Society will sponsor a golf tournament benefit on June 1 at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson. The format will be Lauderdale/Best Ball. A new Dodge truck is the hole-in-one prize. The event, sponsored by the Knox Foundation, will include a low-country boil, prizes for the three best-scoring teams and other prizes.
