I was traveling on Old Washington Road May 2 at 8 a.m. There was a large turtle in the road. A Columbia County sheriff's lieutenant, Andy Shedd, got out of his car and moved the turtle out of the roadway.
When I turned onto Old Louisville Road, there were two more turtles trying to cross the road. Shedd stopped again and removed these two turtle out of the road.
After visiting the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, this meant a lot to me. This was a wonderful way of showing his care for God's creations.
The world is a better place because of people like Shedd. I am glad he is in Columbia County. Sheriff Clay Whittle should be proud of him.
