Former Greenbrier High School standout Kassie Bailey was not recruited to Middle Georgia as a pitcher, but Bailey has been tough on opposing hitters all season.

Bailey was named first-team all-conference after leading the state in wins and innings pitched. She also finished fifth in strikeouts and ninth in ERA.
Bailey compiled a 19-10 mark with 99 strikeouts in 193.6 innings of work. She also boasted a 2.21 ERA. To make her 19 wins even more impressive, Middle Georgia had only 20 victories as a team, with a 20-28 record.
Cumpton is nearly perfect for Jackets
Georgia Tech's baseball team pounded Presbyterian Sunday afternoon, beating the Blue Hose 23-3. Former Greenbrier standout Brandon Cumpton was nearly unhittable for the Jackets.
The sophomore retired the first 18 batters he faced, carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning. He yielded two hits and two runs in the seventh, but captured the easy victory.
The win improves Cumpton's record to 3-1 on the season. He struck out six batters and did not allow a base on balls.
Cumpton's former Greenbrier teammate, Jeff Rowland, also continues to play well for the Yellow Jackets. The fleet-footed centerfielder was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
On Saturday night, Rowland led off the 10th inning with a solo walk-off homer as the Jackets knocked off upset-minded Presbyterian 9-8. He also was named ACC Player of the Week April 13-19 when he hit .500 for the week, including four multi-hit games.
For the season, Rowland is hitting .354 with six homers, 29 RBI, 50 runs scored and 17 stolen bases, while Cumpton is now 3-1 in nine appearances (eight starts). He has a 4.47 ERA and 50 strikeouts in just 44 innings.
This duo could become key as the Jackets' season progresses.
