A golf legend and a former head of state are among the speakers for an Atlanta-based leadership seminar that will be broadcast live Friday to an Evans church.
Six-time Masters champion Jack Nicklaus and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair are among the speakers for the Maximum Impact Simulcast.
The Christian-based business leadership event will be held at the Georgia World Conference Center, but it also will be simulcast nationwide, including at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Road.
"It's about good work ethics while keeping your high morals and standards," said Susan Gilbert, Wesley's program director. "That's why Wesley got involved. We saw it as an outreach to the community."
The event will be broadcast to more than 60,000 business professionals via a private digital satellite network, according to the event's Web site.
Other speakers fwill be Kevin Carroll, an author; Linda Kaplan Thaler, the creator of the Aflac ad campaign; Al Weiss, the president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts; John C. Maxwell, a leadership expert and author; Bill George, a Harvard business professor; inspirational speaker Liz Murray; author Mark Sanborn; and Ernie Johnson, the host of TNT's Inside the NBA .
Maxwell, a former minister, started Maximum Impact Simulcast as a business ministry, Gilbert said.
Wesley's evangelism director, Mary Caroline Thigpen, said the business principles also appeal to secular corporate leaders.
"It's not hard sell, beating you over the head with the Bible ... but it is based in Christian ethics," Thigpen said. "We think if we do business God's way, then we're stronger for it, personally and professionally."
The event costs $49 and includes lunch, with some proceeds benefiting the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership initiative. Tickets are available at Wesley or by calling (706) 869-0888.
