With a deadline approaching faster than summertime, coordinators are seeking more vendors for an inaugural Appling event to showcase recreational vehicles and boats.
//
The CSRA RV and Boat Show will be held from noon to 5 p.m. May 2 at Wildwood Park on Holloway Road. Vendors must pay $50 to participate. The deadline to sign up is April 27.
"I looked around, and as far as I could tell, there has never been a CSRA RV and Boat Show," said Jeb Bell II, Wildwood Park program coordinator. "There had been a few boat shows and things like that, but nothing for the whole CSRA, nothing like what we're trying to do."
The event will feature displayed merchandise from several area dealerships, including Hayes Marine, Aiken Motorcycle, Augusta Marine, Lincolnton Marine and Wahoo Docks.
Also, nonprofit organizations such as the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited will be on hand at the event.
Bell said a few businesses will give boat rides to guests and prospective buyers.
"The boat rides will be open to the public, but it will be at ... the discretion of the vendor," he said.
The event will include activities for children. Inflatables, a rock-climbing wall and a smoke house brought by Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue personnel will be available.
A goody bag will be given to the first 100 people to come into the park.
"We should have a lot of different things there for a lot of different age groups," he said.
Guests must pay $5 per car to park.
"Weather permitting, it should be a great day at the park," Bell said. "There will be a lot of different things to do."
