Pond school
Children ages 5 and older are invited to learn about aquatic life at Reed Creek Park from 4:30-5:30 p.m. today. The session is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required by calling (706) 210-4027.
Extension training
The Columbia County Extension Service will hold a lunchtime training session at noon Thursday, "Tree root protection during construction activities," at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Education credits are available. For information, call the Extension office at (706) 863-3413.
Group meets
The Georgia Real Estate Investors Association, a non-profit group that discusses and shares information on local market and sales conditions, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Evans Library on North Belair Road. Visitors are welcome, and $10 admission includes food and drinks.

Archaeology club
Dr. Mark Barnes will be the guest speaker at the meeting of the Augusta Archaeological Society at 8 p.m. Thursday at Famous Dave's Restaurant, 2821 Washington Road. The meeting is free.
Church sale
Wesley United Methodist Church will hold its annual spring yard sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, at 825 N. Belair Road. All proceeds support missions.
Gospel concert
Buddy Greene will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Martinez Bible Chapel, on Columbia Road in Martinez. Admission is free.
Spring carnival
Lewiston Elementary School will hold its spring carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with rides, games, food, a silent auction and Mother's Day shopping. Armbands cost $15, with individual game tickets for 50 cents, and are available in advance or at the carnival.
