Pianists Martin Jones, an associate professor of music, and Clara Park, a part-time faculty member, will perform Mozart's Double Piano Concerto K. 365 at 3 p.m. inside the sanctuary at West Acres Baptist Church, at 555 Gibbs Road. The pair will accompany the orchestra's 45 musicians.

"They're going to hear some really, really fine pianists play," said Rob Nordan, the orchestra's music director and conductor.

Jones also will conduct Franz von Suppe's Light Cavalry Overture and Charles Ives' Variations on America.

The 2009 Winter Concert is free and will mark the orchestra's fourth performance since it started in February 2008.

"I've just been very pleased with the group and the response that we've had in the community," Nordan said.

Melodies from the classic musicals West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera will be performed. Other musical selections include pieces from composers Leonard Bernstein, Ferde Grofe, Duke Ellington, Jay Ungar, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Kay Lovingood, a resident of the Augusta area.

"There will be some things on the program that people will either readily recognize, or if they hear it, they'll say, 'Oh yeah, I've heard that before,' " Nordan said.
