Youth lacrosse

Marshall Family Y will hold lacrosse registration until March 30 for boys and girls ages 9-15. The season will start in April. Participants can register at the Marshall Family Y or by visiting www.thefamilyy.org.

Umpires needed

Columbia County Recreation Department is looking for people ages 16 and older to officiate youth baseball and softball games. For information, contact Gary Tam or Jim Mock at (706) 863-7523.

Free-throw contest

The Walk for Autism Free- Throw Contest will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Evans Middle School. Cost is $8 per person. The person who makes the most consecutive free throws will win a Nintendo Wii. For information or to purchase tickets, call Mike Selitto at (706) 664-7244.

T-ball registration

Marshall Family Y is registering participants for its T-ball school (ages 4-5) and T-ball league (ages 6-7) until Saturday. Players can register at Marshall Family Y or at www.thefamilyy.org. Cost for the school is $40 for members and $60 for non-members. Cost for T-ball is $55 for members and $75 for non-members. Participants must bring their own baseball gloves. 3-on-3 tournament

A 3-on-3 basketball tournament for ages 12 and older will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Greenbrier High School gym. Cost is $30 per team with proceeds going to iMPACT Youth. For information or to register, contact Eric Lairsey at (706) 868-7788 or e-mail elairsey@ infocuschurch.org.

Boating course

Savannah River Sail and Power Squadron will offer a five-part America's Boating Course on March 29; and April 2, 9 and 16. Hours are 7-9 p.m. and all classes will be held at West Marine, 592 Bobby Jones Expressway. Registration will be at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Grovetown High School football

Football practice for Grovetown High will start at 4 p.m. April 20 at Grovetown Middle School and continue until May 1. Prospective players should contact coach Rodney Holder at rholder@ccboe.net.

Golf tournaments

Augusta Christian Schools fifth annual Golf Classic will be held Monday at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. The format will be a four-man scramble with 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. shotgun starts. Lunch will be provided by French Market Grille West.

Baseball tryouts

The Columbia County Chaos boys 10-and-under travel baseball team will hold tryouts until the end of March. Interested boys should be 10 or under as of May 1. Pitching is a plus. For information, call Trevor Adkins at (706) 284-7379.
