Spelling contest winner

Doris Johnson, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Johnson, of Harlem, won first place in the Columbia County spelling meet held at Appling on Tuesday of this past week. This contest was sponsored by the Atlanta Journal , which awards the winner a $25 savings bond.

Doris is enrolled in the eighth grade in Harlem School and according to her teacher, Anna Morris, is an all-A student.
