Parents who wish to register their children for Pre-K must register at the elementary school in which they are zoned. Pupils in the Blue Ridge Elementary zone will be included in the registration at Evans Elementary. Pupils in the Stevens Creek Elementary zone will be included in the registration at River Ridge Elementary. Pupils in the Riverside Elementary zone will be included in the registration at Greenbrier Elementary. Blue Ridge Elementary, Stevens Creek Elementary and Riverside Elementary pupils will be offered placement on an equal basis with Evans Elementary, River Ridge Elementary and Greenbrier Elementary pupils.
To register to attend Pre-K at a particular school, the child must reside with his or her parents or legal guardians in that school zone. Parents should bring the child's certified birth certificate for age verification, Social Security card and proof of residence, such as a gas, electric or water bill showing service address.
A lottery will be held to determine those who may participate. A waiting list will be formed once the slots are full. Representatives from child care centers also may be present at some schools to help place children not selected through the lottery into slots available at the private centers.
Registration will start promptly at each school. Arriving 10 or 15 minutes before the designated time is advisable to allow for differences in clocks.
The doors will be closed at the designated time. Those arriving late may place their names on the waiting list. If possible, parents should not bring young children to the lottery drawing, because there are many forms to discuss and complete.
