Interviews with potential new executive directors of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce start Monday.
//
"We're having face-to-face interviews with our candidates Monday and Tuesday," chamber President John T.Y. Smith said. "We've done some phone interviews with folks out of town and whittled it down."
Five, possibly six, candidates will meet with the chamber's Executive Committee, Smith said.
The new director will replace Karen Chrjapin, who served her last day in the post on Wednesday.
Chrjapin submitted a letter of resignation in January, citing budget conflicts with the chamber's Executive Committee.
Smith said the Executive Committee will run the chamber's day-to-day operations until the executive director's post is filled.
Naming an interim director won't be needed, he said.
"All the folks we're talking with (Monday and Tuesday) can start quickly," Smith said. "We can easily have someone (hired) by April."
