X-ray clinic planned for TB
The Columbia County Health Department will have a chest X-ray clinic March 7, 1958, for people who have or have had home, familiar or employment contact with a case of tuberculosis; those having malaise suspicious or indicative of tuberculosis; and those being advised to have an X-ray examination by their family physician.
Home saved in fire
The Washington Road Fire Department received much praise for the manner in which they saved the residence of E.L. Singletary on Twin Lakes Drive, Martinez, this past week.
Singletary, owner of the place, was thawing out a pipe and the flame from the welding torch accidentally started the fire. Damage amounted to only $150 on the $8,000 structure because of prompt, efficient service by the fire department, which quickly put out the fire while keeping water stains at a minimum.
Dental tests given
Dr. Peter Miles, an Augusta dentist, visited Harlem School this week and gave dental examinations to 160 Harlem students. This brings to 361 the number of students examined by Dr. Miles. He will return at a later date and complete the examinations of all students.
