Martinez-Evans Little League has extended registration for the 2009 season until Feb. 28. Children ages 4-15 who live in Columbia County are eligible to register to play baseball and/or girls softball. Players outside Columbia County might also be eligible. Registration will be held at Kelley Park from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday and Feb. 28. Grovetown High football meetings
The Grovetown High School Athletic Foundation Booster Club will hold a meeting on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbia County Board of Education offices. Officers will be elected and fundraising events organized. For information, contact Todd Booker at tbooker@burke.k12.ga.us.

Golf tournaments
River Ridge Elementary School will sponsor a two-person best ball golf tournament at Bartram Trail on March 7 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $100 for two-person teams. Proceeds will benefit the school's beautification program. For information, call Bob Russell at (706) 447-1016.
Humana Military Healthcare Services will hold the 13th annual Fisher House Golf Tournament on March 20 at Gordon Lakes Golf Course. Early registration is $65 per player or $260 per team. Day-of registration will cost $75 per player or $300 per team. Participants must register by March 13 to pay the early registration fee. Golfers will sign in at 11 a.m. and lunch will precede a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Mulligans will be available for purchase.
Augusta Christian Schools Fifth Annual Golf Classic will be held March 23 at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. The format will be a four-man scramble with 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. shotgun starts. For information, call Cary Rivers at (706) 863-2905, ext. 106.
Softball tourney

Baseball tryout
The Sonic Blast 14-and-under Major tournament baseball team is seeking two players with pitching experience (preferably high school or middle school experience) for the spring/summer 2009 season. Boating course
Thurmond Lake Sail and Power Squadron will offer its Basic Boating Course at the McCormick Public Library located at 201 Railroad Ave., McCormick, S.C. Classes are from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 24, Feb. 27, and March 3 and noon-3 p.m. on March 6. Advance registration is required. Cost is $25 per person or $30 per couple. Free throw contests

The GA-SC Bulls Soccer Club and the Columbia County Recreation Department will offer a Bulls Junior Soccer Academy for ages 5-7 at Blanchard Woods Park. Session II starts April 15.
