Not too long ago, National Signing Day was simply another day in Columbia County. There were a few solid seasons here and there, but for the most part the county boasted few college signees.
Lately, that has changed.
Last season, Evans set a county record with seven players inking deals to play at the next level. Now, producing 6-12 signings has become the norm.
It appears that will continue today.
Here is a look at the players from Columbia County who will be signing scholarships today or are still considering offers.
Nigel Charles (DE)
Will attend Coastal Carolina as a preferred walk-on.
Brandon McCladdie (DB)
McCladdie will sign with The Citadel.
Reuben Faloughi (DE)
Turned down multiple offers, including one from Furman, to play for the University of Georgia as a preferred walk-on.
Dylan Turner (DL)
Turner joins Lakeside's Kyle Tudor as a D-I signee. He will play for the Air Force Academy.
Kyle Tudor (LB)
Signed with East Carolina and has started classes as an early enrollee.
David Poole (Line)
Poole will continue his gridiron career at Valdosta State.
Levi Hanks (WR/DB)
Hanks plans to play at Pikeville College, an NAIA school in Pikeville, Ky.
Chad Chandler (QB), Martin Seymour (Line), and Michael Combs (PK) likely will sign after National Signing Day.
Barry Davis (TE, Line, Long Snapper)
Davis will play for Augusta native Bert Williams at Georgia Military Academy, a junior college powerhouse.
One other signee is Columbia County native Drew Hill , who has accepted an invitation to play for Kent State as a preferred walk-on. Hill went to Riverside Middle School, but he played his high school ball at Aquinas.
Come out and meet the guys and the rest of the area signees today at Indigo Joe's on Wheeler Road. The party gets under way at 5 p.m.
