Impressive record for Harlem girls
Harlem High School's Lady Bulldogs basketball team shows promise for the upcoming CSRA Basketball Tournament. Entering the tournament with a record of 13-4, Coach Inez Brown's team has some strong players.
Brenda Holliman, forward, averages 23 points per game, and fellow senior starter Carolyn Rutherford, forward, averages 20 points a game. Butler High is the only team entering the tournament with a better record than Harlem.
Artist teaches art to county teachers
Ollene Williams, consultant in Art Education for the Georgia state Department of Education, has come to Columbia County schools to instruct teachers in art. Meetings were held at Harlem Elementary, Martinez Elementary and Blanchard High schools. Teachers from other schools also attended the meetings.
Dozier eyes run for state House
In a letter to Columbia County's state Rep. Glenn S. Phillips, William P. Dozier, vice chairman of the Columbia County Republican Party, stated that considerable pressure has been brought on him to oppose Phillips in the 1966 elections.
