Democrats meet

Columbia County's Democratic Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Columbia County Government Complex Auditorium, in Evans. Canned goods for Golden Harvest Food Bank will be accepted as a community service project. For information, call (706) 513-3400.

Donations sought

Dropped Stitches, a group at Washington Commons that knits blankets for hospitals and soldiers, is seeking yarn donations from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the retirement community on Washington Commons Drive off Washington Road across from Club Car. Aquinas events

Aquinas High School will hold open house for middle school students and parents from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 1, and the high school entrance exam from 8:30-11:45 a.m. Feb. 7. For information, call (706) 736-5516, or e-mail jjenkins@aquinashigh.org.

Aid seminar

A seminar on scholarships, financial aid and student loans will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Jaguar Activity Center at Augusta State University. For information, call (706) 733-1192, ext. 12.

Clinic closed

The Columbia County Health Department will hold no clinic services during the first two weeks of February, with the exception of Feb. 2, 6 and 11 because of staff training and new software installation. Regular business hours in all three clinics will resume Feb. 17.

Wine tasting

The Greater Augusta Arts Council will hold a wine and chocolate tasting fundraiser from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 5 at Earth Fare, 368 Furys Ferry Road, Martinez. Tickets cost $10. For information, call (706) 826-4702.
