Lakeside High School Advanced Placement Scholars

Seventy-nine students at Lakeside High have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the 2008 college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams.

Benjamin Chan, Hema Kondur, Wenlan Ma, Rosemary Song and Linda Yi qualified for the National AP Scholar Award. Students qualify by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

Twenty-seven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction. Students qualify by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Students that qualified are Caitlin Amick, Kara Barlow, Benjamin Chan, David Ding, Patrick Garcia, Revant Gupta, Kris Hardy, Daniel Hess, Kathleen Hynes, Hema Kondur, Kaitlyn Leaf, Jason Lind, Wenlan Ma, Emily Masghati, Mitali Mehta, James Meixiong, Evan Mulloy, Arrthi Murugappan, Paul Park, Joseph Phillips, Angela Pocta, Rosemary Song, Jeffrey Tran, Patrick Tynan, Afoma Umeano, Linda Yi and Osman Yousufzai.

Thirteen students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award. Students qualify by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Students that qualified are Arya Aghdasi, Saba Gill, Carolyn Granade, Kirtley Hitt, Muhan Hu, Charles Johnson, Danielle McKie, Michael Palmese, Kerri Phillips, William Reeve, Connor Watkins, Alexander Wright and David Yavorsky.

Thirty-four students qualified for the AP Scholar Award. Students qualify by completing three or more AP Exams, with grades of 3 or higher.

Students who qualified are Stephanie Aguilar, Anthony Carr, Beth Carter, Dexter Chan, Allison Cheng, Poorvi Chhabra, Katie Davis, Kelsi Dennis, Matthew Dosch, Zachary Dromsky, Stephanie Elam, Rex Goecheritz, Cason Gordy, Hannah Hall, Soama Hashmi, Liana Howard, Dava Lehman, Tianxing Liu, Devi Morrison, Andrew Pak, Santosh Patel, Katherine Payne, Emily Payne, Emily Pepin, Kristen Peterson, Dennis Quinlan, Kristyna Rathkamp, Lindsay Ridlon, Christina Rowland, Vipul Shekhawat, Jennifer Stanley, Lara Thompson, Emma Turner and Benjamin Valerio.

Georgia Southern honors

Shelly D. Clark , of Evans, was named to the President's List for the 2008 summer semester at Georgia Southern University. She graduated in December with a bachelor's degree in public relations. Shelly is daughter of Raymond and Sherri Clark.

Elizabeth L. Hemphill of Evans has accepted membership in Golden Key International Honor Society and was honored during a recent induction ceremony at Georgia Southern University. Membership into the Society is by invitation only to the top 15 percent of college and university sophomores, juniors and seniors. Hemphill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hemphill of Evans, and was a 2007 honor graduate of Greenbrier High School.

NGU graduate

Michael Arthur Beadreau of Evans graduated from North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C., on Dec. 11, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Media.

Augusta Prep Advanced Placement Scholars

Twenty-eight students at Augusta Preparatory Day School have been designated AP Scholars in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement Exams.

Thirteen Augusta Prep students qualified for the AP scholar with Distinction designation by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students from the class of 2008 are Connor Bergeron, Neelam Chaudhary, Megan Cutting, Kristin Dollar, Preston Hull, Amanda Matheson, Paige McNeil, Kathryn Peacock, Devon Roemer, Joshua Segura, Trevor Terris, Chelsea Whitehurst and Marianna Williams.

Four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor designation by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Elizabeth Brown, alumna, and current seniors Chelsea Fechter, Matthew Shafer and Alyson Sheppard.

Eleven students qualified for the AP Scholar designation by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars from the class of 2008 include Nicole Abbott, Fayelyn Bilodeau and Adam Devkota . Class of 2009 members includes Steven Brown, Morgan Campbell, Caroline Catchpole, John Duggan, Elena Evans, Joseph Hall, Laura Lemley and Maryclaire Regan.
