KFC restaurants are known for extra crispy chicken and the 11 herbs and spices that make up the secret recipe.
But a KFC under construction in Evans will soon associate its name with breakfast.
Pry-Wing LLC is building the restaurant, to be open in two weeks, on Washington Road at Fieldstone Way near the entrance to Chimney Hill subdivision, according Alan Wingate, CEO of Pry-Wing LLC.
Wingate said ready-made items such as biscuits will be offered in the drive-through, while guests in the 100-seat dining room can enjoy a wide variety of breakfast items, including bacon, eggs and pancakes and more.
"It is going to be cooked to order inside, as far as a sit-down breakfast," Wingate said. A breakfast buffet also will be offered on Saturday mornings, he said. "It is pretty much like a Waffle House. It is going to be cooked to order."
The new restaurant also will feature an all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffet, similar to that already offered at the Jimmy Dyess Road KFC.
Adding to the four other KFC restaurants Pry-Wing LLC owns in the area has been in the works for nearly two years. Other locations are located at Grovetown and on Columbia and Furys Ferry roads and Jimmie Dyess Parkway.
"We're pleased to come out this way," Wingate said. "We've been working for a couple of years to get a store out here and it is finally coming to fruition, so we're excited about that."
Wingate said the restaurant is an updated KFC design.
"It is basically the brand new vision, the sort of store we have," Wingate said. "It is the latest and greatest as far as the architecture that KFC is putting out there."
Wingate said construction on the parking lot, which was delayed by weather, is expected to be finished in the next couple of weeks.
He hopes to hold a soft grand opening by the end of January.
