It's time to raise some money for the American Red Cross with the 15th annual Boot Scootin' Boogie Bash on Saturday at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and benefits the programs and services that the American Red Cross provides in Columbia County.
"Fifteen years ago, Columbia County became part of the charter of the Augusta Red Cross and this event began to celebrate that union," said Jana Hill, public affairs director for the American Red Cross of Augusta.
"During the past 15 years, many citizens of Columbia County have received Red Cross services in the form of disaster response, health and safety courses and response to Armed Forces Emergency Services," Hill said. "The Augusta Red Cross has participated in Columbia County safety fairs and provided first aid stations for many Columbia County events."
Since July 2008, the Red Cross has responded to two fires in Columbia County, provided lifesaving skills training for nearly 2,000 county residents and provided 44 Armed Forces Emergency Services communications in the county, according to Hill.
"We receive no funding for these, but rely on the generosity of the public to help us help others," she said.
Events like the Boot Scootin' Boogie Bash are imperative to the Red Cross' mission of serving others. Last year's event raised more than $45,000 for the local chapter.
Among festivities at this year's bash are "Queen for a Day" and "Super Bowl Party" packages, which will be raffled off. A "Gold Bonanza" package will feature a grand prize of $10,000 in 24-carat gold coins.
Live auction items include a Club Car vehicle, John Deere mower, mountain house vacation, dinner for 25 from Wife Saver and various other items. A silent auction featuring dinners from local restaurants and signed items from country music celebrities also will be held.
Corporate tables, which seat eight people, are selling for $700. The $700 fee includes dinner, two drink tickets per guest and one Gold Bonanza raffle ticket. Individual tickets can be purchased for $75 and include dinner and two drink tickets.
Raffle tickets are being sold for $100; individuals not present for the raffle must have a proxy.
