Umpires sought for baseball

Free-throw contest set
The Knights of Columbus Free-Throw Championship will be held Feb. 7 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at Patriots Park gym No. 1. Boys and girls ages 10-14 are eligible and will be assigned to their respective age divisions. Participants are required to show proof of age and parental consent. Youth football registration
The Columbia County Area Youth Football Association will hold registration for the spring youth football season for the 9-11 and 12-13 age classifications. Participants must be 13 or younger on Sept. 1, 2009. Weight restrictions for the 9-11 age group will be 155 pounds (135 pounds for ball carriers), and the 12-13 age group will have a limit of 190 pounds (160 pounds for ball carriers).
Registration will be held Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 at Blanchard Woods Park from 9 a.m.-noon. Parents are asked to bring a copy of the player's birth certificate and pay a $55 registration fee. 5k run to benefit Fisher House
The Warriors Challenge Run will be held Jan. 31 at Barton Field on Fort Gordon. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The run will include a timed 5k run and a formation run.
