Families of former News-Times correspondent express gratitude

With heavy hearts we would like to express our sincere appreciation to each and every one for their thoughtfulness to our families during the illness and death of our beloved Mama, Jennette "Bob" Smith.

Losing a loved one who is so dear to her family, friends and neighbors is never easy. Your special concerns for her and us will help ease the pain and will comfort us in the weeks ahead. The love you shared, whether it be a phone call, a prayer, a verse on a card, beautiful flowers, generous contributions, visits at home, food or kind words of encouragement meant so much. We will always cherish her memory and your thoughtfulness.

We thank the staffs of CareSouth and Hospice Care of America for the tender loving care to Mama during her last months. Also, we thank Drs. James Mobley and Leslie Pollard and their staffs for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Mama and the comforting concern they had for our family.

We thank the Revs. Eddie Bradford, Sonny Sellers and Charlie Smith of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church for their prayers, concern and loving support they gave to Mama and our family during her lifetime and since her death.

We would like to recognize Starling Funeral Home and its staff for all the special care and compassionate handling of the funeral service and final arrangements. Their professionalism and courteousness will always be remembered.

Our prayer is that God will bless each of you in the same way He has blessed us as you ministered to us and loved us.
