Tree lighting

The eighth annual Christmas in America Festival, the lighting of Columbia County's Christmas tree, will be held from 3-9 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Columbia County Amphitheater in Evans.

The event will feature a concert with area bands at 3 p.m., performances by Columbia County Ballet, the Dickens Carolers and the Elementary School Mass Chorus at 5:30 p.m., the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. and an outdoor showing of the movie Elf at 7 p.m. (weather permitting). Santa workshop

Greenbrier Elementary School's Santa's Workshop, featuring vendors, photos with Santa, a bake sale and entertainment, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6. For information, call Jackie Collins at (706) 447-3999.

Santa breakfast

Cedar Ridge Elementary hold its Breakfast with Santa from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 13. Vendors are being sought for the event, with spaces costing $20. Call Heather Ayscue at (706) 868-9941.

Thanksgiving meal

City of Light Ministries in Grovetown will hold a community Thanksgiving meal from 2-5 p.m. Thanksgiving day at the church, at 5220 Wrightsboro Road. Call (706) 294-0933.

Rotary trip

Shoe drive

Augusta area podiatrists are collecting new and used shoes regardless of size and condition for distribution to the needy. Donations can be brought to any area podiatrist. Call Dr. Kent Kronowski at (706) 724-0586.

Retired educators

The University of Georgia Men's Glee Club will perform at a meeting of the Columbia County Retired Educators Association at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Augusta, with lunch afterward at the River House in North Augusta. For reservations, call (706) 860-3969.
