County to host Christmas crafts event

To get the public into the Christmas spirit and in the mood for shopping, Columbia County will host a new event called Christmas, Crafts and Caroling Saturday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion.

Nearly 50 vendors will be on hand for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and includes musical entertainment, said county Community Events Manager Stacie Adkins.

"As far as I know the county has never had an indoor craft show like this at Christmas time," she said.

Adkins said she hopes to make it an annual event.

"We thought that this would be an opportunity to get some shopping done before the mad rush and get some unique gifts," she said.

She also said that children's apparel, pottery, candles, woodworking, ceramics and floral items are some of the things that will be available.

"This event shows off the local talent and hopefully benefits the Christmas shopping list as well as the vendors making the arts," Adkins said.

There is no admission charge.
