The folks at The Church at Greenbrier were ahead of the economic downturn six months ago when they planned this weekend's financial and personal budgeting seminar.

"With the economy bouncing like an over-inflated basketball, the housing market looking like the same basketball run over by a dump truck, money and finances are a huge concern for most," said Chuck Gordon, the lead pastor at the church, which meets at Greenbrier High School.
"Sitting at a local coffee shop this morning, almost every person who came in stated their concern with, 'What is going to happen?'" Gordon said.
To help ease those concerns and give attendees advice on personal budgeting, the church will present Casey Graham, the president of ReThink Money at the "ReThink Money LIVE" workshop. The four-hour presentation is meant to help people "change their lives $1 at a time."
Among the concepts of ReThink Money are spend less, create a financial plan, kill debt, invest wisely and provide hope through giving.
"There are no gimmicks, no sales speeches," said Gordon. "This is just a way we want to assist the community in getting hold of personal finances, especially in a time when the current economy is affecting most of our lives and businesses."
The ReThink Money LIVE workshop will be held at The Church at Greenbrier offices in the Eagle Pointe Shopping Center on Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is a registration fee of $20 per person or $30 per couple. For information, call (706) 922-8224.
"I believe this workshop will be a part of many families and individual's lives being transformed," Gordon said.
