Guild features local artists in fundraiser

A showcase for area artists -- amateur and professional -- will be held Saturday in Evans.

The Artist Guild of Columbia County is presenting its annual Art After Dark, featuring artists showing their work at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center in the Columbia County Library.

"We are renting out the entire library facility," Guild President Cyndy Epps said. "We are going to have artwork in the lobby and then we are going to use the performing arts center to do little snippets of other artist groups.

"We have the Columbia County Ballet and the Columbia County Choral Society performing."

Now in its fourth year, the Guild conducts an art show annually.

"In the past, they have tried some different things," Epps said. "They've done art in the barn and art after dark.

"This year, we are doing a combination of a celebrity art auction and silent auction, where the proceeds will go to our scholarship fund."

In the past year, Epps, said the Artist Guild has given away $1,000 in scholarships.

In addition to art, wine and food will be available for purchase.

The hours for the event are 6:30 to 10 p.m.
