Columbia County Animal Care and Control will conduct a rabies vaccination clinic at 1 p.m. Saturday in Appling.

The vaccinations cost $2 per animal and will be administered at the Phinizy fire station at 3141 Ray Owens Road.

"We are doing 100 shots and we will be there until we run out of shots," Animal Care and Control Manager Linda Fulmer said.

Already this year, there have been 10 incidents of rabies infection in domestic animals and two cases in people, she said.

Georgia law requires that all pets be vaccinated.

Dr. Craig Osborn, a veterinarian from Belair West Animal Hospital, will administer the vaccines.

Dogs must be on leashes and cats in carriers.
