Columbia County doesn't need a pool; boosters can afford travel

Columbia County needs a pool! Let's float a loan (pun intended), and the homeowners will pay for it.

But wait! John Q Homeowner grabs a towel and heads for the nearby pool for a healthy relaxing swim - but the pool has been given to the "Y" to run, and they say I must join or pay a fee. But I built the pool!

John Q heads out again. This time the pool is run like a business; it must be self supporting.

But wait! It will have water slides and wading pools. That sounds a lot like the defunct and closed Crystal Rivers Water Park. ...

John Q heads out for a swim to relax from a week of work - work which pays his property tax, which built the pool.

But wait! The pool is closed for the weekend; a swim meet is going on! Come back during the week, when you're supposed to be at work, or after work.

But wait! You guessed it - swim team practice!

Sorry folks, but we don't need a pool in Columbia county. If you can afford to take your kids to out of town meets in Atlanta, Savannah, Columbia, Greenville, etc., then you can drive them to the pool in Augusta.
