Fair to open

Halloween event

Columbia County Community events is seeking area businesses to join in the "Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat" Halloween event, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Patriots Park. There is no charge to participate. For more information, call (706) 312-7192.

Bands to battle

Bands are being sought to compete in the Lakeside High School Battle of the Bands, from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 8 in the school commons area. The entry fee is $25, and at least one member of each band must attend a Columbia County high school. Tickets for spectators cost $5 and are available at the door.
