Spooky donations
Donations of nonperishable food are being accepted at the office of The Columbia County News-Times from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday. Spooky collections in most neighborhoods will be held Saturday.
Halloween event
Columbia County Community events is seeking area businesses to join in the Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat Halloween event, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct 30 at Patriots Park. There is no charge to participate. For more information, call (706) 312-7192.
Fair to open

Bands to battle
Bands are being sought to compete in the Lakeside High School Battle of the Bands, from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 8 in the school commons area. Entry fee costs $25, and at least one member of each band must attend a Columbia County high school. Tickets for spectators cost $5 and are available at the door.
