Teens arrested for sex with 14-year-old

Two Grovetown teens remained in the Columbia County Detention Center on Thursday after they were arrested for engaging in sexual activities Oct. 4 with a 14-year-old girl.

Dalton John Taylor, 17, is charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, statutory rape and two counts of sexual battery, according to jail records.

Akeem Desmond Nash, 18, is charged with sexual battery, statutory rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy and two counts of aggravated child molestation, according to jail records.

Grovetown police arrived at an apartment owned by Nash on Whiskey Road early Thursday looking for a missing juvenile, according to a Grovetown Department of Public Safety report.

After police gained access into the apartment, the girl appeared from a back bedroom partially clothed. Both teens were arrested.

Woman charged in pedestrian death

An Evans woman was arrested Wednesday in association with a hit-and-run accident that left a female pedestrian dead Monday night on Gordon Highway.

Susannah Michelle Chance, 40, was charged with felony hit-and-run and first-degree vehicular homicide, according to Richmond County sheriff's Cpl. Bill Adams. The accident killed Wendy Williams, 47, of Augusta.

Suspects charged in trailer thefts

Police are seeking a fourth suspect in a string of camper trailer break-ins Sept. 27 at Hollywood Self Storage on Columbia Industrial Boulevard.

William Harold Vanwyck, 47, of Martinez, was arrested Oct. 1 and charged with burglary. Justin Andrew Webb-Braddy, 18, of Martinez, was arrested Sept. 28 and charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. Both men are being held at the county detention center without bond. A 15-year-old from Evans also has been charged in the incident, and police are seeking Zachary Marvin Monks for burglary and probation violations, said Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris.

Police and an employee of the Evans storage yard found 10 camper trailers with windows that had been pried open or broken.

Police look for McDonald's thief

An employee at the McDonald's near Davis Road told police Monday evening that someone stole money from a cash register.

The 25-year-old said that about 8:50 p.m., a man ordered and paid for two cheeseburgers, but when the register opened, he grabbed a stack of $5 bills. He then ran out of the Martinez restaurant and into the parking lot.

Police were still looking for the suspect Friday.
