St. Teresa events

Church sale

Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Road, in Evans, will hold its annual fall yard sale from 7-11 a.m. Saturday.

School carnival

Evans Elementary School, on Gibbs Road, will hold a carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school, featuring food, games, rides, inflatables and a rock-climbing wall.

Pet adoption

Columbia County Animal Care and Control will hold a special pet adoption event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the shelter on Columbia Road in Appling. Dogs and puppies will be available for $10; cats and kittens for $5. All pets adopted Oct. 6-11 will receive a free engraved pet identification tag and a 2009 pet calendar. Fair pageant

Contestants ages 17-24 are being sought for the Columbia County Merchants Association 2008 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant, to be held Oct. 25. The contest is open to single women with judging in interview, swimsuit and evening gown. Deadline for entry is Oct. 20. Applications are available at all Columbia County high schools.
