Augusta Christian won its home opener against Hilton Head Prep Friday night, defeating the Dolphins 37-7.

Although the Dolphins scored the first touchdown, the Lions took charge of the game in the second quarter and never allowed their opponents the opportunity to catch up.
The Lions scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, including two by junior running back Cole Turner. They earned their final touchdown in the last two minutes of the game.
"I felt like we had an excellent opportunity to win," Lions head coach Bruce Lane said. "We played really well, defensively."
While Augusta Christian defeated the Dolphins to improve their record to 3-1, Lane identified some areas that need improvement, including protecting the ball and reducing the number of penalties his team incurs.
The Lions were SCISA runners up for the state title in 2007, losing to Hammond in the championship game.
Friday's game was one of just four home games the Lions will play this season. The team will travel to play Laurence Manning Friday, followed by a home game against Ben Lippen Sept. 26.
