Work day activities range from trash pick-up to building wood duck and blue bird boxes and fish attractors, to trail work. All volunteers will be treated to a picnic at 12:30 p.m. immediately following the cleanup.

Volunteers from scout groups, civic organizations, church groups, schools, businesses, along with entire families are encouraged to participate.

"Volunteers are urged to sign up now so that we can plan the work details and the picnic," said Park Ranger Jay Weidman, the event coordinator. To volunteer, contact Weidman at (864) 333-1172, or toll free at (800) 533-3478, ext. 1172.

The cleanup takes place on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 27, the nation's largest environmental, hands-on volunteer initiative to improve and enhance public lands.
