Stone, Robertson attend 4-H course
Keith Stone and Bob Robertson recently attended the 4-H Citizenship Shortcourse in Washington, D.C.
Both Columbia County 4-H'ers, Stone and Robertson learned about their rights, responsibilities and heritage as American citizens.
New Evans High opening Aug. 25
The new Evans High School is in its final stages of construction and will be ready to open on Aug. 25.
The new facility is designed to hold 1,500 students, and according to state superintendent Dr. Charles McDaniel, the new school is one of the best-planned facilities in the state of Georgia.
Golden Spade Club hears safety talk
The Golden Spade Garden Club held its meeting on July 24 in the home of Mrs. Fred Hawkridge. The usual reports were given, and Jim Dooley gave a talk and demonstration on safety.
It was announced that Margaret Hines will make an afghan that the club plans to sell in the fall.
