Recycling event

Evans Wal-Mart and Keep Columbia County Beautiful will hold a recycling event for cardboard, plastic shopping bags and newspapers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Wal-Mart parking lot. School supplies

Washington Commons retirement community, in conjunction with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, is accepting donations of cash, gift cards or school supplies for underprivileged children.
