Earth Fare will hold a "Dog Days of Summer" event all day Saturday, with hot dogs, a pet contest, a dog wash, children's activities, information booths and giveaways to benefit the Columbia County Humane Society. Five percent of the store's total earnings for the day will be donated to CCHS.

Parents at Stevens Creek Elementary may prepay their student's lunch accounts from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the school cafeteria to avoid long lines at open house.
Bloodmobile
The Shepeard Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 780 Old Louisville Road, Harlem, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Backpack blessing
The Church of the Holy Comforter's annual Blessing of the Backpacks will be held at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Participants also are asked to bring school supplies to donate to needy students. For information, call (706) 210-1133.
