World is 'messed up' when kittens can be thrown from moving vehicles

As I read over the "Adopt a Pet" section for the Columbia County Humane Society July 20, I was sickened to read at the bottom, "Kittens are thrown from moving cars."

What type of person would do such a thing? Someone who has nothing worthwhile to add to our community and doesn't deserve to have the same rights or any other opportunities/freedoms we so take for granted.

I can only imagine that this type of person will end up being supported by "we the taxpayers" as he or she becomes part of the criminal justice system sometime in the future.

I'm reminded of a quote that seems fitting here: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" (Mahatma Gandhi).

When did the world get so messed up?
