HHS events

Harlem High School will hold freshman orientation from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by open house from 6-8 p.m. for freshman students and their parents. For information, call (706) 556-5983, ext. 206.

Open house

Riverside Middle School will hold open house from 2-7 p.m. for sixth-graders Aug. 6, seventh-graders Aug. 7 and eighth-graders Aug. 8.

School lunch

Parents at Stevens Creek Elementary may prepay their student's lunch accounts from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 7-8 in the school cafeteria to avoid long lines at open house. Prices this year in elementary schools are $1 for breakfast or 30 cents at reduced price; lunch costs $2, or 40 cents for reduced.

Backpack blessing

The Church of the Holy Comforter's annual Blessing of the Backpacks will be held at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Aug. 10 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Participants also are asked to bring school supplies to donate to needy students. For information, call (706) 210-1133.
