Bluegrass benefit

A bluegrass concert to benefit Daryl Morris, of Appling, who is recovering from an aortic aneurism, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Purvis Community Center, off Wrens Highway outside Thomson. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. Concessions also will be for sale.

Caregiver series

A six-week educational series for caregivers will be held at Brandon Wilde at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday starting July 31. The sessions will be led by staff from the Area Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer's Association. Cost is $25, and the deadline for registration is July 24. For information, call (706) 731-9060.

Movie matinees

Columbia County's Family Movie Matinees are held at 1 p.m. each Wednesday at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center, with Bridge to Terabithia today; Chicken Little , July 23; and Walt Disney's The Wild , July 30. Sales tax sessions

The Columbia County Commission will continue its series of meetings for public input on ideas for capital projects to be funded in the 2011-16 special purpose local-option sales tax renewal referendum at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Appling courthouse. For information, go to www.columbiacountyga.gov.

Lydia events
