Bailey completes hospital internship

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bailey of the Whiteoak Community congratulate them on the fact that their talented young son, Billy Malone Bailey, has completed his period of internship at the Athens General Hospital in Athens, Ga., and is leaving this week for Cairo, Ga., where he is taking over the office and practice of the leading physician in that city, who is retiring from his practice because of ill health.

Dr. Bailey's wife and little son will join him in two weeks to make their home in Cairo.

Columbia County people who know the history of this young doctor's renowned ancestor, the late Dr. Berthier Bailey, whose word was the last in diagnosis to so many in his long years of practice in this area, will be wishing success to this young physician as he begins his career.

Scouts to visit

New Mexico

Twelve area Scouts from the Georgia-Carolina organization will join Explorer Scouts from Savannah on a three-week trip to New Mexico.

Explorer Scouts Lee Tracy, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Tracy, and Tom W. Luckey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Luckey, both of Harlem, will join the Augusta group. They will board a bus in Augusta for Savannah and will pick up other Scouts there. The destination will be Cimarron, New Mexico. Tommy Dozier of Thomson will be another Scout attending from the immediate area.
